1) Who we are

These Terms govern your use of meaningvault.com (the “Site”) and the associated projects operated by Meaning Vault (“we,” “us,” “our”), including the “Field Notes from the Deep End” submission workflow (the “Service”).

By accessing the Site, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Site.

Using the Site

  • You must use the Site in compliance with applicable law and these Terms.
  • Don’t attempt to disrupt, reverse engineer, or circumvent security or access controls.
  • You are responsible for the accuracy of information you provide to us.

Account / submissions

You don’t need an account to browse. If you submit materials to Field Notes (“Works”), your submission is additionally governed by the Artist Participation Agreement and the Content License Agreement you accept in the form. Those agreements prevail for any conflict related to submissions.

Intellectual property

  • The Site, its design, logos, and original content are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by copyright and other laws.
  • Except as permitted by law, you may not copy, modify, or create derivative works of Site content without our permission.
  • For submissions, rights are governed by the license you grant us in the submission workflow.

User content / prohibited conduct

You agree not to post or transmit content that: (i) infringes intellectual property or privacy rights; (ii) is unlawful, defamatory, or hateful; (iii) contains malware or attempts to gain unauthorized access; or (iv) violates any third-party agreements you’ve made (e.g., with a distributor) in a way that would conflict with your license to us.

Takedowns / disputes about user content

We may remove or restrict content at our discretion (e.g., legal risk, policy violations). If you believe content infringes your rights, contact privacy@[yourdomain.com]. If you are a contributor, you agree to cooperate with us to resolve mistaken distributor claims per the license you accepted.

Links to third parties

The Site may link to third-party sites or services we don’t control. We’re not responsible for their content, policies, or practices.

Disclaimers

THE SITE AND SERVICE ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. We do not warrant uninterrupted or error-free operation.

Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SITE OR SERVICE. Our total liability for any claim will not exceed $100 or the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim (whichever is greater).

Indemnification

You will defend, indemnify, and hold us harmless from claims, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising out of or related to: (a) your use of the Site; (b) your submissions; (c) your breach of these Terms; or (d) any allegation that your content infringes or violates another’s rights.

Changes

We may update these Terms periodically. Material changes will be posted with a new “Effective date.” Continued use means you accept the updated Terms.

Governing law; venue
